Since 2005, BHW1 has worked with Spokane Transit Authority to build awareness and advocacy for available public transit.
The
Challenge
There is no challenge in convincing people to use public transportation if it’s their only option. The challenge lies in motivating people to ride who have other options. When BHW1 became the agency of record for Spokane Transit in 2005, their brand was suffering from a reputation of poor service, little transparency, and fiscal irresponsibility. Yet, they had set a goal of increasing ridership to seven million rides per year by 2009.

Solution
We began by conducting extensive research with three markets: current riders, non-riders, and STA employees. Research was repeated two years later to measure our growing success. By creating key strategies from that research, and partnering with the communications team at STA, we dramatically exceeded every goal.
