Like many downtown cores across America, downtown Spokane was suffering from slow retail sales, declining customer traffic and a bleak future. The culprit was urban sprawl and the development of suburban shopping malls that threatened downtown retail.

Challenge

River Park Square is a destination shopping center location in Downtown Spokane with boutique and anchor retailers such as Nordstrom, GAP, Banana Republic and Macy’s. The shopping center lies at the heart of downtown across from Riverfront Park, and includes an adjoining parking garage—one of the key revenue drivers for the business.

Throughout our relationship, the client has looked to BHW1 for help in boosting retail sales, increasing customer traffic and positioning River Park Square as a premier shopping destination. With each campaign, the BHW1 team integrates traditional, digital and social media strategies to create cohesive and impactful campaigns where consumers spend their time.

Extensive  consumer  research  was undertaken and a master plan was created to reposition downtown  Spokane to 1.7 million consumers across a 36-county trade area and establish River Park Square as the region’s premium shopping destination.
