Non-

Marketing for government agencies and non-profit organizations has its own unique set of challenges. First and foremost, of course, the overall goal is to create marketing programs that can demonstrate return on investment, and sustain themselves. At BHW1, we have a long and successful track record of doing just that. For instance, we helped establish and market the most successful “Coaches vs. Cancer” program in the United States. We helped Spokane Transit Authority generate a more than 40% increase in ridership…in a time when national ridership only rose 5.1%. And we helped Visit Spokane, a destination marketing organization, achieve all-time highs in online response rates. We do all that by developing work that, well, works.

Our government agency and non-profit specialists focus on key areas of opportunity to make it happen: Accountability: Government agencies must adhere to guidelines for open meetings, transparency, ADA guidelines and more. Non-profit organizations must create sustainable marketing models that demonstrate effectiveness to constituencies. At BHW1, our emphasis on metrics-based marketing—including research, testing, and analytics—streamlines this process. Best practices and behavioral marketing: Whereas traditional marketing promotes a product or service, marketing for government agencies and non-profit organizations is designed to elicit a change in behavior among the audience. For instance, municipalities may create campaigns to encourage recycling. Health departments may create campaigns to encourage tobacco cessation. Non-profits will create campaigns to raise funds. This type of marketing has its own unique set of qualifiers, and proven best practices. Cause Enrollment: Awareness is a primary goal. But it’s only the first goal, because government agencies and non-profit organizations need to market to current stakeholders—and create new stakeholders. That means messaging that brings people into the fold on the agency’s or organization’s mission and values…and convincing those people to take the extra step with financial and/or volunteer support. BHW1 creates messages that have both logical and emotional appeals to make this happen for our clients. Government Agencies and Non-Profit Organizations we’ve created impactful marketing for include:
